Restaurant Website Design & Development

Spotty Media plans, designs and develops restaurant websites around the decisions guests make before they visit. Menus, opening times, directions and booking routes need to work quickly on a phone, while the site still needs to feel like the restaurant itself.

We work on new openings, established venues and multi-location groups. The right project might be a focused improvement, a careful redevelopment or a new WordPress build.

Restaurant Websites, Built Around Guests

Restaurant Website Design For Menus, Bookings And Real Venues

A restaurant website has two jobs. It should communicate the food, atmosphere and identity of the venue, then make practical information easy to find when somebody is deciding whether to book.

Spotty Media plans, designs and develops WordPress websites for independent restaurants and hospitality groups. A project can include structure, design, copywriting, development, existing booking-system integration, launch and training. Photography, vouchers, events, online sales, hosting and ongoing support can be added where they suit the brief.

We do not begin by prescribing a fixed package. We review the current site, the restaurant’s priorities, the systems already in use and how the team will keep information accurate. Sometimes focused improvements are more useful than a rebuild. When a new build is justified, we define what is being replaced, retained and redirected before work starts.

The Guest Journey

What A Restaurant Website Needs To Make Easy

Most restaurant visits now begin with a short sequence of questions: does the food suit the occasion, is the venue open, can everyone in the party find what they need, and how do we reserve a table?

The website should answer those questions without making guests hunt through a PDF, an old social post or a third-party listing. We plan the page structure and mobile experience around those real tasks.

Make Menus Easy To Use

Put current food, drinks, dietary information and prices where guests can read them comfortably on a phone. The editing route should also be realistic for the team that keeps them up to date.

Put Booking Within Reach

Use clear reservation prompts at the moments guests are ready to act, then test the handoff to the existing booking provider on common mobile and desktop journeys.

Keep Each Venue Accurate

Give every location the right hours, directions, menus, contact details and booking route. Agree who owns those details after launch so the site remains dependable.

The Numbers

What UK Diners Want Beyond The Visit

A restaurant website can support discovery, product sales and marketing sign-ups. These UK consumer findings help explain those opportunities; they do not measure website conversion rates or predict sales.

95%

of UK diners used online resources to find new restaurants.

77%

of UK consumers surveyed would buy other restaurant offerings, such as cookbooks or cocktail kits.

89%

of UK consumers surveyed could be encouraged to sign up for restaurant marketing updates.

Source: SevenRooms, 2025 UK Restaurant Industry Trends, pages 6, 26 and 17 respectively, based on 1,000 UK consumers. Willingness to buy or sign up is not a completed purchase or subscription. Findings relate to restaurants, not all hospitality businesses.

Our Restaurant Website Work

Restaurant And Hospitality Websites We Have Built

Restaurant website work is not one-size-fits-all. These projects include a multi-venue gin bar, a restaurant redevelopment, experience bookings and a restaurant with rooms.

The examples explain what Spotty Media delivered. They are not presented as guaranteed booking, revenue or search-ranking results.

Tin of Sardines

Spotty Media built one website for Tin of Sardines' Roker and Durham venues. The project brought both locations together and included online gift-voucher functionality, while retaining clear information for each bar.

Old Tom's Gin Bar

Spotty Media designed and built the Old Tom's Gin Bar website with routes for Gin Tasting Experience bookings and gift vouchers. The website needed to present the venue as well as the experiences available to buy.

sō-lō Restaurant

We re-platformed sō-lō Restaurant's existing website into Elementor and took over hosting. The redevelopment gave the team a more manageable build with presentation and navigation closer to the restaurant's identity.

The Blue Lion

For The Blue Lion, a Yorkshire restaurant with rooms, Spotty Media built and hosted a website that brings together dining, accommodation and information about the surrounding area.

How We Work

From Restaurant Website Brief To Launch

We begin with the restaurant, its guests and the current website. The scope records the pages, menus, content, booking provider, required access, launch dependencies and who will update the site afterwards.

That discovery determines whether the work is a targeted improvement, a redevelopment or a new build. It also gives both teams a clear view of decisions, responsibilities, exclusions and the information needed to keep the project moving.

Arrows

Understand & Scope

We review the restaurant, current site, guest tasks, booking provider, content, access and commercial priorities. The agreed brief separates essentials from later ideas.

Arrows

Plan & Design

We map the site and key journeys, then design around the restaurant's identity, real content and the information guests need before they visit.

Arrows

Develop & Test

We build the agreed pages and functions, then check mobile layouts, forms, menus, booking handoffs, metadata, speed and basic accessibility considerations.

Launch & Support

We plan redirects and launch checks, connect agreed measurement, and arrange training, hosting or managed updates around the restaurant team's responsibilities.

Made For Restaurant Guests

Menus, Mobile Pages And Clear Booking Routes

Menus should be legible on a phone, straightforward to update and easy to reach from the pages where guests make a decision. We can create useful menu pages or agree a practical document approach when a downloadable version genuinely helps. The important point is that guests can read current information without unnecessary friction.

Opening times, directions, contact details, dietary information and reservation options need the same attention. For a multi-venue group, each location should have accurate menus, hours and booking links rather than relying on one generic journey.

Private dining, vouchers, events or online product sales can have dedicated routes when they matter to the restaurant. We scope those functions against the operational process behind them, so the website does not promise a journey the team cannot maintain.

WordPress Builds And Existing Booking Systems

We build new WordPress websites and redevelop existing ones. The platform gives restaurant teams a practical way to manage content, but the editing setup, permissions and training still need to match the people who will use it.

Where suitable, we work with the booking provider already in use, including systems such as ResDiary, OpenTable, Caterbook and DesignMyNight. We check the available connection, account access, branding options and mobile handoff before agreeing the implementation. Spotty Media does not supply the reservation platform itself.

A click to a booking system is not the same as a completed reservation. If the provider supplies suitable completion data, we can assess whether it can be measured. If it does not, reporting should say what the website can genuinely observe.

Content & Ownership

Copy, Photography And Day-To-Day Updates

Website copy should explain the real restaurant rather than fill a template with generic hospitality language. Spotty Media can plan and write the copy, edit suitable material your team provides, and include an on-site photography shoot where it is agreed in the project scope.

We identify what we need from the restaurant at the start. That can include menus, dietary policies, opening times, venue details, brand files, existing imagery, booking-provider access and timely feedback from the person authorised to approve the site.

Before launch, we agree who owns day-to-day changes such as seasonal menus, prices, opening hours and events. We can train the team to make suitable updates or provide managed support as a separate service. No new website can promise a particular Google position.

What We Can Track On A Restaurant Website

We can configure Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Search Console, with consent choices considered as part of the implementation. Useful website actions may include menu views, telephone taps, enquiries, voucher visits and booking-link clicks.

Before a redevelopment goes live, we map useful existing pages to relevant new destinations and plan redirects where needed. We also check the agreed mobile layouts, forms, menus, booking handoff, key metadata, speed and basic accessibility considerations. A migration can be managed carefully, but it cannot guarantee unchanged rankings.

Projects are priced for the agreed brief rather than sold at a fixed restaurant-website rate. A small, well-prepared site may take a few weeks; a larger group site or a project with complex content and integrations can take several months. Access, content, provider support and feedback affect the schedule. New builds include the first year of hosting, while maintenance, content support and restoration work are agreed separately. There is no implied 24-hour support service unless a specific agreement says otherwise.

Can you work with our current restaurant booking system?

We assess the provider and account before agreeing the connection. Spotty Media can work with existing systems such as ResDiary, OpenTable, Caterbook and DesignMyNight where a suitable route is available, but we do not supply the booking platform. We also explain whether the website can measure a link click or a completed reservation.

Yes. We plan a practical editing route and can train the people responsible for keeping information current. Some restaurants prefer to manage routine changes internally, while others ask Spotty Media to provide ongoing support. We agree that responsibility before launch, including how urgent or out-of-hours requests would be handled.

Not always. If the platform and structure are sound, focused work on mobile layouts, menus, content or booking routes may solve the real problem. A rebuild is more likely when the existing site cannot support the required journeys, is difficult to maintain, or needs a broader change in structure and presentation. We assess that before recommending a scope.

Yes, when they are included in the agreed project. We can plan and write the website copy, edit suitable material supplied by your team and arrange an on-site photography shoot. Photography is not automatically included in every website quote, and the restaurant still needs to verify operational details such as menus, allergens, hours and policies.

Both depend on the brief. The number of venues and pages, content creation, booking or voucher functions, migration work, third-party access and approval process all affect the quote and schedule. A small, well-prepared site may take a few weeks; a larger or more complex project can take several months. Spotty Media provides a bespoke scope, quote and working schedule before development begins.

New builds include the first year of hosting. We can also provide email hosting, training, maintenance and managed content support where agreed. Security provision and daily backups are part of hosted sites, while restoration work and wider ongoing support are charged through the relevant retainer or hourly arrangement. We do not imply a 24-hour service-level agreement unless one is specifically contracted.

Discuss Your Restaurant Website

Tell us about the restaurant, the current website, your menus, booking provider and the parts of the guest journey that are causing difficulty. We will discuss whether a focused improvement, a redevelopment or a new build is the sensible next step.

If there is a fit, Spotty Media will define the scope, responsibilities, dependencies and bespoke quote before development begins.
